Payload Is Determined By Truck & Tire Designs
The all-important payload capacity of mining trucks has never been greater, thanks primarily to the fact that both truck and tire manufacturers are now working closer with one another during the design of their own individual products. Unlike years ago when truck manufacturers would build to the capacity of many “off-the-shelf” tires, today’s haulers are now so big that generic tires are no longer suitable, nor safe because of the demands created by increased loads. Ever-improving tire technologies, however, are allowing truck designers to think even bigger still and as many will agree, there’s a limit to the weight tires can safely carry but just as confident as they are with their own designs, they’re equally convinced that tire designers will keep pace with demands. The end result will be a truck/tire combination capable of carrying payloads that will make mining safer, more productive and more profitable. The following illustrates some of the products and technologies available to the mining industry in Canada.
