MINING PEOPLE IN THE NEWS: Actus Minerals, ArcelorMittal Mines, Excalibur, God's Lake, Silvermex and VMS Ventures

Carl von Einsiedel is the new president and CEO of Vancouver-based Actus Minerals. He is also VP exploration for UC Resources. Former president and CEO Jack Bal has resigned.

ArcelorMittal Mines Canada of Montreal has promoted Serge Miller to president and CEO from COO. He holds a degree from the University of Sherbrooke and joined the company in 1977, when it was Quebec Cartier Mining. Miller is a director of the Mining Association of Canada and of the Quebec Mining Association.

Toronto-headquartered Excalibur Resources has named Dr. James D. Kendall president and CEO of the company. He was formerly employed by Barrick Gold. Kendall succeeds Dianne Szigety, who has resumed her duties as corporate secretary.

Judy Baker has joined Toronto-based God's Lake Resources as president and CEO. She holds an honours BSC geological engineer and mineral resources exploration and an MBA. She is the former president of Canada Lithium Corp.

The new VP exploration at Silvermex Resources of Vancouver is Robert Fraser. He has over 35 years experience in North, Central and South America, most recently as the exploration manager for Hecla Mining. He is a graduate of Queen's University at Kingston, ON, and credited with the discovery of the Troilus gold-copper mine in northern Quebec.

VMS Ventures of Vancouver has appointed Dr. Mark Fedikow as VP exploration in addition to his role as VP of technical services for the company.
