YUKON - Alexco Resource Corp. of Vancouver the Na-Cho Nyak Dun (NND) First Nation have signed a co-operation and benefits agreement as the Bellekeno silver mine nears production. The mine and mill project is located in the Keno Hill Silver District 330 km north of Whitehorse. The new agreement replaces an earlier exploration co-operation agreement.

The new accord covers surface, advanced exploration and environmental activities, care and maintenance, closure, and mine production. It also ensures that Alexco and NND will work together to facilitate the meaningful participation of NND in environmental regulatory processes elsewhere in the Keno Hill area.

Alexco praised the agreement saying it provides certainty for future projects in the area, takes advantage of traditional environmental knowledge, pursues contracting and partner opportunities, and outlines Alexco's financial support for NND.

"This agreement provides a solid and expanding foundation to build a long term relationship between Alexco and NND, it will provide the parties with mutual certainty which will enable activities and projects in the Keno Hill Silver District to proceed while fully addressing the First Nation's interests regarding economic opportunities and environmental stewardship," said NND Chief Simon Mervyn.

The updated 2009 preliminary economic assessment for the Bellekeno project is available at www.AlexcoResources.com.
