NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - DIAVIK DIAMOND MINES has received national recognition for its work with northern Aboriginal communities at its diamond mine, 300 km northeast of Yellowknife.

Diavik has been recognized as a leader in Aboriginal relations by reaching the prestigious Gold Level of achievement under the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business' (CCAB) Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) programthe highest level of achievement obtainable. Only two other Canadian mines have received this designation, and Diavik is the first mine in Arctic Canada to receive it, says the company.

The PAR program provides a framework for setting objectives, developing action plans, measuring performance, achieving results, and excelling as a leader in Aboriginal relations. PAR participants detail their performance through a self-assessment, which is then externally verified by the National Quality Institute and reviewed by a jury of prominent Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesspeople.

Complete information on how to become a PAR partner is available at www.ccab.com.
