ONTARIO — Noront Resources of Toronto has formed what it calls a "historic" First Nations advisory council to guide the company in establishing relationships with the local First Nations communities near Noront's exploration projects in the James Bay Lowlands. The goal is to encourage First Nations' development and education throughout the region.

The council is made up of five individuals: Phillip "Jerry" Asp, president of C3 Alliance Corp. and one of western Canada's most prominent Aboriginal leaders; Leanne Hall, founder and president of Woodland HR Inc. and of Woodland Tires; Chief Glenn Nolan, the second VP of the PDAC and creator of Together Corp, a non-profit organization dedicated to building greater dialogue among government, the mining industry and Aboriginal communities; Roy Whitney, former chief of Tsuu T'inia First Nation and recipient of the National Aboriginal Achievement award for business and commerce along with the Paul Harris Fellow Award for building understand for indigenous peoples of the world; and Paul Semple, recently appointed Noront COO.
