FINLAND – Outotec, the mineral processing experts, have acquired Kovit Engineering of Sudbury, ON, The firm was acquired from its founders Frank Palkovits, Paul Rantala, Steve Reichle and Mark Wallgren.
Kovit is one of the leading technical consulting and engineering companies specializing in mine tailings solutions. It boasts a wide range of expertise in paste fill, cemented or hydraulic fill, thickened fill, dry stacking of tails, laboratory services, system design, custom solutions, and more. Kovit's annual sales are in the $7.2 million to $14.4 million range.
Outotec said the acquisition complements its existing dewatering and tailings treatment solutions and services as well as strengthens its position as a global provider of sustainable tailings management solutions. The parties have agreed not to disclose the acquisition price. The acquisition will not impact Outotec's financial guidance for 2015.
