AWARD: Nordex’s Jim Taylor named top entrepreneur

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ontario – Nordex Explosives reports that Jim Taylor, its CEO and president, has received the 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award was presented by the Kirkland & District Community Development Corporation from which Nordex received Access to Capital loans in 2004 and 2012.

The presentation was made at the annual conference of the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations. Over 250 guests and delegates from Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) recently met in Huntsville, ON, for the event. The Kirkland & District Community Development Corporation is one of 61 CFDCs across Ontario.

Taylor told the delegates, "When I joined the company in 2003, the company had three part-time employees and owned one white, two-wheel-drive pick-up truck. Here we are, roughly 10 years later with 75 fulltime employees, and we have just over 40 trucks on the road, from large transport trucks to pick-up trucks."
