AWARD: Sandvik’s Bob Onucki wins CIM Distinguished Service Medal

EDMONTON - Bob Onucki, senior global account director for Sandvik Mining, has been awarded the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s (CIM) 2012 Distinguished Service Medal.

EDMONTON - Bob Onucki, senior global account director for Sandvik Mining, has been awarded the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s (CIM) 2012 Distinguished Service Medal.

This gold medal, awarded to Onucki during the CIM 2012 awards gala, was inaugurated in 1957 as an award for distinguished or meritorious service to the Institute and the mineral industry that may or may not necessarily be of a technical or scientific nature.

Graduated from Haileybury Schools of Mines in 1975, Onucki joined Sandvik in 1993 in the Canadian sales base in Lively, ON, after 18 years of experience at companies such as Inco, Atlas Copco, Gardner Denver and Secoma. One year later, he became brand manager at Lively. He was named VP business development for the United States and Canada in 2005.

In 2010, Onucki was named VP underground mining, for the United States and Canada, and last year was appointed to his current position as senior global account director at Sandvik Mining (Mining.Sandvik.com/).
