ALBERTA - Calgary-based SYNENCO ENERGY has tallied the results of last winter's drilling program and estimated the barrels of bitumen in place at the Northern Lights project. The best estimate is 1.67 billion bbl, an increase of 12.1% from a year ago. The company also gave a high estimate of 2.07 billion bbl and a low estimate of 984.0 million bbl.

The Northern Lights project is a partnership of Synenco and SINOCANADA PETROLEUM, the Canadian subsidiary of China's Sinopec International Petroleum. Synenco is the 60% owner and operator. A 100,000-bbl/day operation is planned with the first oil flowing down the pipeline by the middle of 2010.
