ALBERTA – Coalspur Mines Ltd of Calgary has awarded the detailed design engineering contract on its Vista coal mine to CWA Engineering. CWA will handle all the EPCM duties as well as supervising subcontractors.

The area of the Vista project was drilled in the 1970s and 1980s by Denison Mines. The preliminary economic assessment put recoverable coal at 260 million tonnes, but recent drilling has upped that estimate to 313 million tonnes of recoverable coal. At the end of January 2012, Coalspur released a 43-101 study hinting that the Vista deposit could be the largest export thermal coal mine in North America. Production may begin in 2015.
