BRITISH COLUMBIA - Another new coal mine is heading toward production near Tumbler Ridge. NEMI NORTHERN ENERGY & MINING has its provincial permit to develop its Trend Small mine. Production of low-sulphur, medium-volatile, coking coal is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005.

The Trend Small mine is within the South Block of NEMI's Trend property. It has a saleable reserve of 1.68 million tonnes. Mining will begin at an annual rate of 240,000 tonnes, but output will go up to 1.5-2.0 million tonnes/year in the second quarter of next year if environmental assessment and permitting go as planned.

TERCON CONSTRUCTION (with Tercon Industrial) will build the mine and infrastructure. NEMI and Tercon are working on a contract that will make Tercon the operator of the mine. Furthermore, trucking proposals have been received for the coal haul between the mine site coal preparation plant and the rail loadout. NEMI expects to complete the trucking negotiations for the coal haul this June. Contracts are in-place for the construction of the mine rail loop and loadout, the re-establishment of 16 km of rail on the Tumbler Siding, and the mine clearing and grubbing.

Technical reports and photos of the project are available at www.NEMI-Energy.com.
