TORONTO - TERAGO NETWORKS, Canada's leading fixed wireless broadband company, welcomes its first Oakville customer, AMEC AMERICAS, which needs a high-speed connection to create a virtual private network (VPN) to connect it with DE BEERS CANADA, one of its largest Canadian customers, and a remote site in northern Ontario.

"We simply couldn't get the high-speed connection that we required with AMEC's Oakville offices with anyone else," said Oleg Khaev, senior network administrator of De Beers Canada. "As one of our largest suppliers, with whom we were working on a significant joint mining project in northern Ontario, a high-speed, secure connection with AMEC was mandatory."

De Beers is developing the Victor diamond project in northern Ontario. The only way for the De Beers people in the remote location to securely connect with the Toronto and Oakville offices was through a VPN running over fixed wireless broadband.

"Broadband wireless was our only option," said Khaev. "But what's particularly attractive about TeraGo is that we were able to establish a fire-walled separate Internet connection for extra security and create a VPN tunnel that offers up to 1.5 Mbps, benefits that were either too costly or not even possible with other services."

Kevin Drolet, division manager, who heads AMEC's information systems operations for eastern Canada, was impressed with the speed of installation and quality of service. "TeraGo Networks bent over backwards for us. They installed the service in half the normal time during the holiday season and in inclement weather. They also go out of their way to notify us of impending maintenance. This is a level of service I've never experienced from another provider."

After such glowing recommendations, all our readers will want to visit www.terago.ca.
