ALBERTA The SUNCOR ENERGY FOUNDATION has pledged $2.5 million towards a new performing arts centre in Fort McMurray. The centre is a partnership of Suncor, the Fort McMurray Catholic school board, and the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo. The centre will be attached to the Holy Trinity Catholic high school currently under construction in Timberlea.

The performing arts centre will have a 350-seat theatre, a professional dance studio and associated facilities. It will be available for use by both students and the public.

This partnership complements Suncor's investments in other performing arts initiatives in Fort McMurray, such as Alberta Ballet's Northern Tights Tour; Word Power, a tour of Aboriginal authors; Esther Honens International Piano Competition Foundation; and, Sing for Your Supper, a fundraising tour led by Canadian singer Tom Jackson.

Information about the Suncor Energy Foundation and how to apply for funding are available at www.Suncor.com.
