QUEBEC - The Innu Matimekush-Lac John have lifted the blockade that has restricted access to two iron ore projects for the last three months. Separate agreements were reached with the two mining companies, and other land claims issues were settled between the Innu and the governments of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Quebec.

The DSO project belonging to New Millennium Capital of Calgary and the Schefferville project of Labrador Iron Mines Holdings (LIM) of Toronto were affected. New Millennium has agreed to restart negotiations aimed at reaching an impact and benefits agreement (IBA). LIM is also working on an IBA and has announced its intention to immediate begin mine and plant construction.
