LUSAKA, ZAMBIA - The EUROPEAN COMMISSION (EC) and SOUTHERN AFRICA DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY (SADC) are organizing the fourth in a series of mining sector partnership meetings in Lusaka, Zambia, from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2006.

European and southern African mining consultants are currently in the field identifying new mining projects in the 14 countries of SADC. Once the identification work is completed, around 100 projects will be selected for presentation at MINES 2006. In parallel with the project identification work, the consultants are also producing new research reports on the mining sector in each SADC country.

Participation in the event is free of charge to selected EU and "third country" (Australia, Canada, U.S.A. and India) mining and mining finance companies.

Details of the projects to be presented in Lusaka, and full access to the reports of the sector study, will be available to companies completing an expression of interest form. This information is scheduled for circulation in early September, allowing time for companies to review it and then take their decision on attending. Completing the form implies no commitment beyond a readiness to be open-minded about the opportunities.

The form, the brochure and further details may be obtained from mines2006@metraconsult.co.uk (Tel: +44 (0) 1883 349690) or from www.mines2006.com.
