COPPER-GOLD DEVELOPMENT: First phase construction at Oyu Tolgoi nearing start-up

MONGOLIA – Ivanhoe Mines of Vancouver noted on Feb. 27, 2012, that the first phase of construction at the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine 80 km north of the Mongolia-China border is nearly 75% complete. Start-up is scheduled for Q3 this year.

MONGOLIA – Ivanhoe Mines of Vancouver noted on Feb. 27, 2012, that the first phase of construction at the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine 80 km north of the Mongolia-China border is nearly 75% complete. Start-up is scheduled for Q3 this year.

The property is being developed for open pit mining with a 100,000-t/d mineral processing plant. The deposits contain an estimated 81.3 billion lb of copper and 46.4 million oz of gold. The project is 66% owned by Ivanhoe and 34% by the Mongolian government.
