MINDANAO Calgary-based TVI PACIFIC has news from its wholly-owned Canatuan copper-gold project in the Philippines. Mill expansion to nominal 125-t/day will be complete in June, and the treatment of gossan/oxide ore will begin by the end of the month. Access roads to the mine site have been upgraded, the haul road in the pit is complete, the mining contractor is mobilizing on the site, and the new mine offices and staff house are done.
Mill throughput can be ramped up after commissioning, says TVI, but construction of a larger thickener, leach tanks and a Merrill-Crowe circuit will be necessary to expand it to the desired rate of 250-t/day by the third quarter of 2004. The operation will then have a monthly production rate of 1,100 oz of gold and 19,000 oz of silver.
