YUKON - Development, beginning with civil construction, is underway at the Minto copper-gold mine of Vancouver's SHERWOOD COPPER. The airstrip and the road to it are being rehabilitated, and new roads are being built to the waste dumps. Site preparation is also underway for the camp expansion, fuel tank farm and offices. Additionally, work has begun on the water management facilities. Waste pre-stripping will begin as soon as mining contractor PELLY CONSTRUCTION can get its mining fleet on site and assembled.

Sherwood is accelerating the project with the goal of reaching production early in the second quarter of 2007. The mill, envisioned as a 1,560-tonne/day facility in the 1995 feasibility study, will now be built to treat 2,400 tonnes/day. Resource figures are currently being updated; the feasibility study will be ready in May 2006.
