BRITISH COLUMBIA Vancouver's TASEKO MINES has ordered mining and milling equipment worth $100 million for the expansion of its Gibraltar copper-molybdenum mine at Williams Lake. The company has entered into agreements to buy two Bucyrus 495 shovels, a Bucyrus 409R production drill, four 240-t Terex trucks and a 8.5-m semi-autogenous mill (SAG).

Delivery of the equipment will take place over the next two years. The trucks will arrive later this year, one shovel and drill will arrive in the spring of 2009, and the second shovel in late 2009. The SAG mill and motors should arrive in May 2010 for commissioning by August that year. The addition of the SAG mill will boost milling capacity by 30,000 t/d, bringing total mill capacity to 85,000 t/d.
