QUEBEC - The Fabie Bay copper mine near Rouyn-Noranda reached commercial production on March 1, 2008. The owner, FIRST METALS of Toronto, said that during the month of March the mine produced 44,500 tonnes of ore grading 2.56% Cu.

That same month, 42,000 tonnes of Fabie Bay ore was milled at XSTRATA COPPER's Horne mill and smelter. Gross metal production was 2.1 million lb of copper with an average copper recovery of 90% in a 21% Cu concentrate. Subject to final assays, payable metals will be approximately 1.9 million lb.

First Metals is also developing the Magusi River zinc-copper deposit 1.2 km west of the Fabie Bay mine for production.

Details for both projects are available at www.FirstMetals.inc.
