COPPER: Progress continues at Reed Mine in Flin Flon

VANCOUVER: VMS Ventures Inc. has just issued an update on the progress that has been made at the Reed (copper-zinc-gold-silver) mine, near Flin Flon, Manitoba. The company owns 30% of the mine while Hudbay Minerals Inc. owns the balance and is the mine operator.

The Reed mine continues with no lost-time accidents and the main focus right now is on ramp development down to the 185m level.

Other highlights include:

*Development advanced 233m in May, 1432m year to date at an average of 9.5m per day.

*Production of 40,621 tonnes, total of 147,864 tonnes year to date.

*Mined from Zone 30; stopes on 85m level and 135m level and development ore from both Zone 20 and 30 on 135m level.

The focus remains on safety and continued ramp development to the 185m level and ore production from Zone 30 stopes.
