MICHIGAN - HUDBAY MINERALS of Winnipeg has completed the purchase of 100% of the White Pine copper refinery in the Upper Peninsula. The deal is worth US$13 million, subject to certain adjustments, and is expected to close later this year or in early 2006.
The facility at White Pine refines copper anodes from HudBay's mines and plants in northern Manitoba, and the arrangement will continue. The copper smelter at Flin Flon, Man., has an annual capacity of 90,000 tonnes of anodes.
