BRITISH COLUMBIA – The most recent resource numbers from the Granduc copper project of Castle Resources of Vancouver are a large jump over those of a year ago (see CMJ January 2012). Using a net smelter return cut-off of $40, the indicated resource is now estimated at 10.4 million tonnes grading 1.25% Cu, and the inferred resource is 36.6 million tonnes grading 1.25% Cu.

The company believes the former mine near Stewart has an exploration potential for another 15 million to 25 million tonnes grading between 1.2% and 1.5% Cu.

Castle also gave numbers using an 0.8% Cu cut-off, the same criteria that was used for the February 2011 estimate. Viewed this way, the indicated resource has increased to 8.9 million tonnes from 3.8 million tonnes, and the inferred resource has grown to 31.1 million tonnes from 8.9 million tonnes.

The Granduc copper deposit is a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit with tabular, stratified mineralization zones which have been modified by several phases of folding. Structural modification has significantly remobilized the mineralization, thinning and thickening mineralized lenses throughout the deposit.

More details about the Granduc project are available at CastleResources.com.
