BRITISH COLUMBIA – Vancouver-based Yellowhead Mining has updated the 43-101 estimate for its Harper Creek copper project north of Kamloops. At a 0.2% Cu cut-off grade, total measured and indicated resources are estimated at 815 million tonnes grading 0.29% Cu and containing 5.26 billion lb of copper, an increase of 1.67 billion lb of copper over the preliminary economic assessment estimate.
Ian Smith, president & CEO of Yellowhead, stated, “We believe that Harper Creek is one of the largest independent copper development projects inCanada, capable of producing a large, long-term supply of clean concentrates, with exceptional infrastructure and a favourable political climate. The planned production rate of 25.55 million tonnes/year milled would currently make Harper Creek Canada's second largest open pit copper mine."
The Harper Creek property contains a copper-gold-silver volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit. The PEA proposed a 22-year project life based on measured and indicated resources of only 542 million tonnes and a 70,000 t/d mill.
