TORONTO - For the year ended Dec. 31, 2005, BARRICK GOLD recorded gold sales worth US$2.35 billion for a net income of US$401 million. These figures compare to sales of US$1.93 billion and income of US$248 million in 2004. Proven and probable reserves at year-end contained 89 million oz gold, plus resources and inferred resources with 29.9 million oz gold.
For the 2005 year, Barrick produced 4.99 million oz of gold at total cash costs of US$227/oz. Far and away its largest operation was Goldstrike in Nevada, which produced 2.02 million oz.
