We mentioned last week the money raised by the mining industry for the BC Children's Hospital, but we neglected to make clear that raising such sums relies on the efforts of many corporations, employees and volunteers. Ann Rippon, executive assistant to the president at WESTERN CANADIAN COAL, sets the record straight:
"While Teck Cominco and its employees have donated large sums of money to BC Children's Hospital Foundation for many years, the annual Mining for Miracles campaign has always been an industry effort. This year's chair was Graeme Currie of Canaccord Capital who worked tirelessly to raise the campaign total of $1.4 million. Many mining companies, executives and employees donated to this total in addition to Teck Cominco."
