WASHINGTON, DC - The International Cyanide Management Institute has recertified the Tulawaka gold mine in Tanzania as substantially compliant with the International Cyanide Management Code. The mine is operated by African Barrick Gold of London, UK. (Barrick Gold of Toronto is the majority shareholder of the African company.)

The Tulawaka mine was first certified in July 2008. As per the Code, compliance was audited within three years of that certification by an independent professional auditor. The operation can be fully certified once the mine has implemented its corrective action plan.

The new summary audit report, corrective action plan and auditor credentials form for the Tulawaka gold mine are available on the Signatory Companies Page on the ICMI web site: www.CyanideCode.org/signatory_barrickgold.php.
