DIAMOND MINING NEWS Diamond Fields Output 95% Gem Quality

The 4,700 carats of diamonds mined by DIAMOND FIELDS INTERNATIONAL from its offshore leases near Luderitz are 95% gem quality. The diamonds were recovered from the seabed by a dual 24-in airlift system on the MV Anya. The ship is also equipped with a heavy media recovery unit.

Most of the diamonds (3,532 carats) have been sold through DIAMOND TENDERS (BELGIUM) for an average price of US$132.52/carat.
