NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – On behalf of its joint venture partner Mountain Province Diamonds, De Beers Canada (the operator) has signed an impact benefit Agreement with the North Salve Métis Alliance for the Gahcho Kué diamond minejoint venture. The IBA sets in place the framework by which the Metis community can participate in the employment and business opportunities, training and development, and financial benefits of the mine.

This is the first IBA negotiated for the Gahcho Kué mine. The mine will have a life of approximately 11 years and will provide 400 permanent jobs. Annual production will average 4.5 million ct.
