QUEBEC – Stornoway Diamond Corp. of Montreal reported on March 5 that pre-stripping has begun for the Renard 2-Renard 3 open pit at the Renard diamond project. Renard, located 350 km north of Chibougamau in the James Bay region, will be Quebec's first diamond producer. Commercial output, 1.6 million ct/year for the first 11 years of operation, is scheduled for Q2 2017.

Stornoway expects to stockpile 700,000 tonnes of diamondiferous kimberlite before the plant is commissioned in the second half of 2016.

Probable reserves are 17.9 million ct. Total indicated resources, inclusive of the reserves, stand at 27.1 million ct, with a further 16.85 million carats classified as inferred, and 25.7 million to 47.8 million ct classified as non-resource exploration upside.

Renard has the makings of a high value, long life project. Read about it in depth at StornowayDiamonds.com
