TORONTO – The Chang School at Ryerson University is launching a new certificate program for mining management. The first course, Resource Valuation, Financing and Investor Relations, will begin on the evening of January 16, 2012 for 12 weeks. The post-graduate continuing education course promises to offer direct involvement with mining industry professionals rather than strictly academics.

Joe Hinzer, President of Watts, Griffis and McOuat, is co-instructing the resource valuation module with Larry Smith, senior Manager project evaluations at Barrick Gold Corporation, while the financing & IR modules are being led by Cathy Hume, CEO of CHF Investor Relations.

Ryerson is hoping to attract many working professionals – geologists, engineers, metallurgists, getechnicians, investment bankers, legal advisors, accountants, PR & IR professionals, and more.

The course fee is only $730. The full certificate comprises seven courses altogether and its description can be found by scrolling down to ‘Mining Management’ at Certificate Programs, Ryerson University.
