NORTHERN ALBERTA -- SYNCRUDE CANADA has purchased a third BUCYRUS 495HF electric mining shovel for its Aurora oil sands mine north of Fort McMurray. Two similar shovels were ordered last year.

Bucyrus believes this purchase highlights the fact that the 495HF (the HF stands for "high flotation") has proven itself to be an extremely productive and reliable tool in oil sands applications. The shovel is equipped with a lower works design that carries 3,175-mm wide crawler links, giving the shovel the ability to operate in the soft ground conditions found in the oil sands. In addition, the shovels carry the new SuperCab, designed for operator comfort, efficiency and work-face visibility, supporting the highest levels of productivity.
