SASKATCHEWAN - Saskatoon's AMEC has been awarded the engineering contract for the expansion of POTASH CORP. OF SASKATCHEWAN's (PCS) Rocanville underground mine. The contract covers engineering and project management services over four years. A new mill is to be built, and the utilities, storage and loadout facilities on site will be expanded.

PCS has announced plans to spend $1.8 billion to increase the Rocanville mine output. The 2.0-million-tonne boost will bring the company's annual output to 15.7 million tonnes. A new shaft is to be sunk and a new underground conveyance system established.
