MEXICO — Vancouver's UC Resources is now in possession of the environmental permit from the Mexican ministry of environment and natural resources for its Yesca mill. The permit marks a milestone in the company's goal to begin silver and gold production.
UC can now begin construction of a tailings containment pond which is the final step before commissioning the mill. The La Yesca mill has a design capacity of 200 t/d of tailings and was designed with the flexibility to add additional tonnage of hardrock feed should an economic source be found nearby. The mill is completed and ready to process tails as soon as the tailings containment pond is operational in six weeks.
The Yesca project will recover up to 225,750 tonnes of tailings from the historic La Colorada mine located northwest of Guadalajara. Included in the project is the nearby Xora concession surrounding the La Colorada mine, and further exploration is planned.
