LABRADOR - Labrador Iron Mines Holdings (LIM) received final environmental approval and project release from the government of Newfoundland and Labrador for its Schefferville area direct shipping iron ore (DSO) project in western Labrador on Feb. 12, 2010.

LIM can now complete the permit and license application process and regulatory approvals required for the construction of mine infrastructure and production facilities at the James and Redmond deposits this summer. The lump and fines that LIM plans to produce will be the first DSO mined in Canada in almost three decades, according to the company.

LIM has also signed an agreement with the Sept-Iles Port Authority for the use of the Pointe-Noire facilities in Quebec, about 650 km down river from Quebec City.

LIM hopes to begin shipping in mid-2010. See www.LabradorIronMines.ca for the December 2009 corporate presentation and updates.
