YUKONWestern Copper Corp. of Vancouver is the recipient of this year's Robert E. Leckie Award for outstanding mining reclamation practices. The award was made to recognize the work done at the abandoned workings at the Casino project 300 km northwest of Whitehorse.

Western Copper removed all the old buildings, equipment, material and debris from an old exploration camp at the site. The company also recontoured the area to re-establish natural vegetation.

The Robert E. Leckie award was created in 1999 to acknowledge innovative approaches to planned reclamation, research, and co-operation between the government and the mining industry. It is presented annually during the Yukon Geoscience Forum in Whitehorse, YK, to worthy recipients for exceptional reclamation and restoration efforts.

Dale Corman, president and CEO of Western Copper, received the award.

Results of the Casino gold-copper-molybdenum pre-feasibility study are posted at www.WesternCopperCorp.com.
