NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Canadas fourth diamond mine, Gaucho Ku, 300 km east of Yellowknife may be facing delays due to an extended environmental impact review process. The Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board has released its schedule for the environmental assessment phase of the project, to begin immediately. The board appears to be giving itself until the middle of 2009 to make a decision.

The timeline is available by going to the boards website at www.MVEIRB.nt.ca and clicking on the registry update for the Gaucho Ku diamond mine. The terms of reference and other filings are available at the same website.

Gahcho Ku is a joint venture between MOUNTAIN PROVINCE (49%) and DE BEERS CANADA (51%). Further details of the project are available both at www.MountainProvince.com and www.DeBeersCanada.com.
