BRITISH COLUMBIA - Explorationists from Vancouver are scouring the province in the hope of finding minable deposits of copper and gold. Here is a sampling of news that has arrived at CMJ in the last week. Readers will note several more new discoveries.

IMPERIAL METALS outlined its findings at the Giant copper project east of Hope. Hole GCS06-02 was drilled from surface to more than 900 m, encountering a copper equivalent grade of 0.54% over 602.0 m. This is the deepest hole drilled to date in the mineralized breccia pipe on the property. (www.ImperialMetals.com)

For every producer such as Imperial, there are many junior companies actively pursuing the mother lode in the central part of the province.

ACREX VENTURES has completed Phase One diamond drilling at its Spanish Mountain property near Likely. Results of drilling indicate a wide distribution of gold values, ranging from 0.1 to 2.54 g/t within the bedrock underlying the gold-in-soil geochemical anomalies. Drill holes that were completed along the eastern margins of the soil anomalies returned higher gold values. Hole 06SM-15 (the best hole) returned three intersections of greater than 0.5 g/t Au including 2.54 g/t Au over 1.51 m and 2.29 g/t Au over 1.52 m. (www.AcrexVentures.com)

ALPHA GOLD says it has drilled a new Carlin-style gold system, which it has named the Valley zone, at its wholly owned Lustdust property 250 km northwest of Prince George. The find has been confirmed by assays from three holes 3 km southeast of the Canyon Creek Skarn zone. A reverse circulation hole returned 11.02 g/t Au over 7.6 m, and assays from two diamond drillholes returned anomalous gold values. The company plans a "large" follow-up drill program that will begin in March or April. (www.AlphaGold.bc.ca)

COPPER RIDGE EXPLORATIONS has intersected significant copper-gold mineralization at its Copper Ace property near Williams Lake. Copper Ridge says all its holes encountered "mine series" tonalite, the main host rock of the adjacent Gibraltar copper mine. The best assay came from a 1.6-m section of hole 06-02 that averaged 3.43% Cu and 0. 425 g/t Au. (www.Copper-Ridge.com)

HAPPY CREEK MINERALS has confirmed a new porphyry copper system on its Rateria property 10 km southeast of the Highland Valley copper mine near Logan Lake. Holes testing the east-central portion of an IP anomaly returned 156.1 m of 0.104% Cu, 129.4 m of 0.300% Cu, 182.8 m of 0.069% Cu and 105.5 m of 0.061% Cu. (www.HappyCreekMinerals.com)

TENAJON RESOURCES reports high-grade precious metals intersections in the Main Breccia zone on its Kansas property, 25 km north of Stewart. The best short intersection was 11.84 g/t Au and 12.8 g/t Ag over 3.04 m. The longest interval was 24.39 m that assayed 3.43 g/t Au and 13.16 g/t Ag. Partners PINNACLE MINES and MOUNTAIN BOY MINERALS are earning a 60% interest in the Kansas claims or 70% if they complete a feasibility report for the project.

TERRANE METALS has intersected new copper-gold mineralization at its Mt. Milligan property 155 km northwest of Prince George. The newly discovered zones lie outside the limits of the historic resource model and include 0.38% Cu and 0.73 g/t Au over 72.0 m; 0.38% Cu and 0.45 g/t Au over 68.0 m; 0.04% Cu and 0.98 g/t Au over 56.0 m; and 0.42% Cu and 0.47 g/t Au over 10.0 m. Mount Milligan contains a historic measured and indicated resource of 205.9 million t averaging 0.247% Cu and 0.6 g/t Au. Samples from these and other holes will be used for bench and pilot plant metallurgical tests. (www.TerraneMetalsCorp.com)
