BRITISH COLUMBIA — Teck Cominco has chosen a Wenco software solution for managing its fleet at the open pit Coal Mountain operation 30 km southeast of Sparwood. Wenco is installing its software on Teck's 12 haul trucks with capacities of 136- to 218-tonnes, two O&K RH200 hydraulic shovels and a LeTourneau 21-m3 wheel loader. The mine produces both metallurgical and thermal coal.
Coal Mountain is receiving a Mobile Supervisor Terminal that allows field supervisors complete control, similar to that of an office dispatcher. They have control of truck deployment, real-time monitoring and real-time production statistics from within their trucks. Wenco also supplied the core software for the system.
