QUEBEC – The reopened Elder gold mine 10 km northwest of Rouyn-Noranda has produced its first doré bar for owner Abcourt Mines of Mont-St-Hilaire, QC. Maudore's Sleeping Giant mill near Amos, QC, processed 4,839 tonnes of ore from the Elder mine to produce the gold bar.

The mineral processing results will be used by Abcourt as part of its feasibility study for the Elder project. There are approximately 17,000 tonnes of mineralized material in surface stockpiles. The company hopes to reach full production capacity in Q1 2014.
