TURKEY – The board of Alacer Gold in Toronto has given approval to move forward on the Copler sulphide expansion project in the eastern part of this country. The next undertaking is to advance detailed engineering and procurement of long lead time items. The land use permits for the project have wound their way through the regulatory process and are awaiting final approval.

Alacer holds an 80% interest in the Coper mine and leach pad operation. The expansion involves increasing the capacity of the existing leach pad and corresponding work on the tailings storage facility. The sulphide ore will be stockpiled ahead of the new 5,000 t/d pressure oxidation plant. Construction on the plant is to begin late this year in anticipation of production in Q4 2017. Gold and copper are to be recovered.

Alacer estimates the total cost to be approximately $620.5 million.

The technical reports for the Copler sulphide project are available at AlacerGold.com
