NEWFOUNDLAND – Toronto-based Anaconda Mining says the single, strategically placed hole it drilled on the northern edge of the Pine Cove gold mine's pit limit returned multiple zones of mineralization. Hole PC-14-234 returned several intersections including 2.46 g/t Au over 8.5 metres and 3.17 g/t over 8.5 metres.

Drilling done in 2007 indicated that the Pine Cove deposit continued north of the mine, said Anaconda. This year's hole intersected zones of quartz veining-brecciation, iron carbonate, sericite and disseminated pyrite similar to other mineralization at the mine. The mineralization appears to flatten to the north, and it has been traced 150 metres from the planned pit boundary to a depth of 200 metres. The mineralization remains open to the north, noted the company.

The Pine Cove mine and mill are located on the Baie Verte Peninsula.
