BRITISH COLUMBIA – Banks Island Gold of Vancouver has passed a milestone in the development of its Yellow Giant gold mine by hiring the underground workforce and procuring the mining equipment. The project is located on Banks Island, 120 km south of Prince Rupert.

Preparations to begin underground mining at the Bob zone are nearing completion. The company has also purchased a refurbished two-boom jumbo drill and leased a new underground loader and scissor lift.

On the surface, Banks Island has erected the dense media separation plant and begun working on the electrics for it. The installation of two conveyors is ongoing. The company has purchased a 300-kW generator to run the plant. Commissioning is expected in September.

The explosives magazine has been established and work is underway on the construction of a mechanical shop and setup of the mine compressor and generator. Additional heavy equipment – a cat 966 front-end loader, a 30-tonne rock truck, and an excavator are also on the site.

Additional information about the Yellow Giant gold project and the company's other project at Red Mountain can be found at BanksIslandGold.com.
