BRITISH COLUMBIA – Seabridge Gold of Toronto has received the early stage construction permits for the KSM project from the province of British Columbia. The project lies 65 km northwest of Stewart. The deposit has proven and probable reserves of 2.2 billion tonnes grading 0.55 g/t Au, 0.21% Cu, 2.74 g/t Ag, and 44.7 ppm Mo.

Four permits were issued:

1)    to build and use roadways along Coulter and Treaty creeks;

2)    rights-of-way for the proposed Mitchell-Treaty tunnels;

3)    to build and operate construction camps; and

4)    early stage construction at the mine site and tailings management facility.

Seabridge Gold chairman and CEO Rudi Fronk commented, "We greatly appreciate the continuing support of the BC government for the mining industry in general and our KSM project in particular. The issuance of these construction permits affirms the value of early and extensive consultation with interested parties and the close collaboration that can be achieved among regulators and local communities. I would like to thank officials from the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources Operations, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of Energy and Mines for their diligence and co-operation, as well as the Nisga'a Nation and First Nations who also made important contributions to finalizing these permits.

"The granting of land tenure for the proposed Mitchell-Treaty tunnels is an especially important milestone for the project, as it awards to KSM the rights to a corridor connecting the project's two main areas – the mine site and the tailings management facility," Fronk added.

Although the province has approved the KSM project, Seabridge is still waiting for federal approval. That decision is expected in November 2014.
