ONTARIO GOLDCORP is making plans for open pit mining at the site of Canada's most prolific gold producer, the Hollinger mine in Schumacher. The potential exists not only for a new pits but for underground testing of the Millerton and CPZ targets.

Goldcorp (www.Goldcorp.com) is in the permitting process for development of the project. Given the unknowns of the process, the company has not targeted a start-up date, although it has said construction might take a year after permits are received. During that time some material may be mined.

The Hollinger mine operated from 1910 to 1968, producing more than 19.3 million oz of gold.
