BRITISH COLUMBIA - It's official: CROSS LAKE MINERALS of Vancouver has the necessary permits to restart the QR gold mine, 60 km southeast of Quesnel. The mine and 1,000-t/d mill were placed on care-and-maintenance in 1998 by former owner Kinross. Already the company has built a 42-person camp onsite and begun rehabilitating the electric generators and mill power system. The engineering studies are complete, but construction of the tailings impoundment area will have to wait for spring weather.

Open pit mining will be practised at the West and Northwest zones, and the North zone is being dewatered in preparation for underground mining. Project maps are posted at www.CrossLakeMinerals.com.
