ALASKA – Equal partners NovaGold Resources of Vancouver and Barrick Gold Corp. of Toronto are working hard at the environmental impact statement for their Donlin gold project 450 km northwest of Anchorage. They have set a year end target to file it with the authorities. After public comments, the final Donlin EIS should be issued in early 2017.

At the rate it is currently advancing, the partners may be ready to make a development decision in less than two years, said NovaGold.

The Donlin project is huge. There are an estimated 39 million oz of gold in the measured and indicated categories. At an average grade of 2.2 g/t Au, the project will yield 1.1 million oz of gold annually for 27 years.
