YUKON Gold is where you find it, and it is not always in spots where an open pit or an underground mine are appropriate. Sometimes placer mining is the most economical method. With that in mind, Vancouver-based BOULDER MINING CORP. is exploring the Indian River paleochannel gold discovery located 30 km south of Dawson City. Boulder can earn a 70% interest in the project from Western Prospector Group by spending $5 million for exploration over the next four years.
The Indian River property produced 910,000 million oz of gold from 1978 to 2002.
John H. McAdam, Boulder president, reports that the initial program of line-cutting, ground-penetrating radar surveys, trenching, test pits, and drill program planning will be complete at the end of May. The second phase will involve 100 sonic drillholes beginning shortly thereafter.
