QUEBEC - VIRGINIA GOLD MINES of Quebec City has confirmed the continuity of the Roberto mineralized system over more than 700 m. The system forms part of Virginia's 100%-owned Eleonore project in the Opinaca Reservoir area of James Bay.
Recent drilling has extended the Roberto zone to the southeast, north and at depth. New high-grade intersections were made to the southeast including 15.91 g/t Au over 7.35 m, 14.64 g/t Au over 6.0 m, 15.37 g/t Au over 3.0 m, 25.84 g/t Au over 1.65 m, and 10.87 g/t Au over 1.9 m. Northward, drilling to a depth of 240 m assayed 16.25 g/t Au over 2.1 m, 7.76 g/t Au over 2.55 m and 4.15 g/t Au over 0.5 m. Drillholes also confirmed the continuity of the Roberto zone to a vertical depth of 370 m with a best intersection of 24.55 g/t Au over 3.25 m.
In March, Virginia raised $16.1 million through a private placement. The money is earmarked for further exploration of the Eleonore property. Longitudinal sections are available at www.virginia.qc.ca.
