SASKATCHEWAN - Claude Resources of Saskatoon has intercepted the widest mineralization - 20.48 metres assaying 19.10 g/t Au - to date across the Santoy Gap at its Seabee gold mine near La Ronge. The results continue to significantly expand the strike length and depth of the mineralized system, says the company.
Other highlights from recent drilling include 20.25 metres at 12.79 g/t; 1.2 metres at 25.10 g/t; and 1.72 metres at 36.51 g/t Au.
Claude has drilled 56 holes and 22,000 metres at the Santoy Gap this year. Three rigs continue to work at the property, and a 43-101-compliant resource estimate for the Santoy Gap is due in Q1 2012.
The company explained that gold mineralization at Santoy Gap is hosted within a system of sheeted, shear-hosted quartz veins, silicified biotite-diopside schist and silicified granitic to dioritic dykes. Visible gold is typically observed along vein contacts, associated with trace to 5%, disseminated pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and rarely tellurides. Vein sets are interpreted to dip moderately, 45° to 60° to the east, and are interpreted to be amenable to bulk underground mining techniques. The system shows very similar structural controls and geometry to the Santoy 8 deposit.
